We have just finished learning the unit on Money for Math. The children will be sitting for a Performance Task this Wednesday. There is no weightage to this Performance Task.
They will be required to do the following for the task :
1) Count a given amount of coins
2) Count a given amount of notes
3) Given a picture card showing the amount of an item, they are required to draw the coins / notes required to buy that item
We did a revision last Friday again on counting money and here are some photos of their learning.
A handful of the children are still unable to count confidently , do revise with them at home using real coins.
Darien Tong from our class was featured in our school art blog.
Read about his art processing journey here. Now I know why he is always busy collecting recycled materials......
We are so proud of you, Darien! Indeed you deserve the "Most Innovative Pupil in Class" award.
Keep up your creativity . We look forward to more creative art works from you:)
Today , I let all the children tried on the coloured cloth for our Rainbow Day performance. I let them practise how to hook and unhook the cloth to their little fingers. They were very excited. We practised a few times and I am glad that they got used to the cloth. The effect of the coloured cloth was great.
On 17 Sep 2013, our class went on a learning journey to the Peranakan Museum . Miss Carmen Lum also joined us for this trip. This journey is part of our Social Studies Field based learning.
The children were exposed to the Peranakan culture- their clothing, food and religion. Except for a handful, it was the first time to the Peranakan museum for many. The children were also excited as it was their first learning journey as a class out of school.
I am thankful to these parents who agreed to come along as parent volunteers:
1. Mrs Yip ( Jovis' Mum)
2. Mr Joel ( Rain and Cloud's Dad)
3. Mr Ho ( Yee Wai's Dad)
Yee Wai's Dad helped took all the photos in this blog entry except those on the bus journey. It was the first time I went on a learning journey that I don't need to worry about capturing their learning on camera.
It was a fun trip for all. If you would like to visit this museum, it is offering free entry to all Singaporeans.
The lady in charge briefed the children on the museum rules. They learned to use their museum voice.... |
